What’s Happening Now: Transitioning For a Year

Diane Da Costa
Curly Textured Expert
Carol’s Daughter Brand Stylist

Its already one-year since transitioningmovement.com launched and showcased three amazing women, who received total makeovers as winners of the Carol’s Daughter Transition Me Beautiful contest!
I clearly remember that sunny Friday morning, oh so well. I greeted three beautiful transitioning women; Billi, Carnelia and Marquita at my salon, SimpleeBEAUTIFUL Boutique Salon to create new looks as part of an awesome transformational weekend. All the ladies received full consultations; the Transitioning 123 Kit was applied and conditioning steam treatments, along with color and cuts. Then I prepped their hair for their fabulous photo and video shoot that would take place the next day at Carol’s Daughter NYC headquarters in Tribeca. It was an exciting and exhilarating experience!

For an entire year, all three ladies received monthly Skype consultations to monitor their transitioning progress and the healthiness of their hair growth. As of April 2013, they have all successfully transitioned with healthy natural curls using the entire Carol’s Daughter hair care collection and the Transitioning 1-2-3 Kit for an entire year.

Today the ladies are continuing to grow out their hair for length and manageability. Billi has been playing around with color and funky extensions and recently tried the Carol’s Daughter Chocolat Smoothing Collectionfor a silky, smooth, punk rock style. Carnelia has explored all the natural textured sets like; bantu knots, the twist-out, braid-out, spiral rod sets and curly wash and go styles. Marquita, on the other hand, had the longest hair, so she grew her hair out. Then, she did the big chop. Now, she simply loves her wash and go, curly Fro. It’s been a fabulous transitioning journey for the ladies and I know they are well on their way to sporting lots of curls.
