How long have you been transitioning and what made you decide to do so?
I went natural 15 months ago. I had been thinking about it for a while & finally just decided to do the big chop and give it a go. I wanted to stop using harsh chemicals in my hair & my home and was curious about what my natural hair would be like.
If your hair had its own personality, how would you describe it?
My hair is sassy, fun and versatile.
What is your hair regimen and what are your hair care essentials?
I do a full wash about 1X a week using As I Am Cleaning Pudding with Aveda's damage remedy conditioner. After washing, I use As I Am leave in conditioner and then different products depending on my styling for that day. If it is a wash & go then Carol's Daughter Hair Milk pudding with a blow dryer on low until dry and then finished off with Hair Milk leave in moisturizer. If doing bantu knots or a coil out, I will use something with a bit more hold. During the summer I do tend to wash & go more often using As I Am Coconut Co-wash in between full wash days.
What has been the best part and hardest part of your natural hair journey?
The hardest part has been to know what works for my hair, especially as it grows.
Who is your hair icon, and why?
Traci Ellis Ross is a favorite of mine. She is so comfortable in her skin and hair, and manages to look sexy and glam all at the time.
