How long have you been transitioning and what made you decide to do so?
I've been transitioning since August 2010. It's been fun and at times a bit challenging as well.
If your hair had its own personality, how would you describe it?
“I believe I can fly.”
What is your hair regimen and what are your care essentials?
I wash and deep condition once a week. I will then twist it at night and twist out in the morning. I have used Carol’s Buttercreme, Shea butter oil and also Lock It gel by Taliah Wajid.
What has been the best part and hardest part of your natural hair journey?
One of the best parts of my journey is how much I've learned about my hair. The best part is the feeling of being myself and free. The hardest part is not finding the product that will really work for me.
Who is your hair icon, and why?
Jill Scott; she seems to enjoy her natural hair.
Carol’s Daughter knows that transitioning isn’t easy—that’s why the brand has founded TransitioningMovement.com, a site dedicated to providing the resources that women need to embrace their natural hair. This definitive online source on how to transition was founded on the idea that every woman should celebrate her own unique beauty. As women transition from relaxed to natural hair with protective styles, the big chop or long or curly grow-outs, we aim to support them as they brave the change with fun, informative and helpful features. Let’s get back to the basics of natural beauty.
