Straight From NY Fashion Week: This Falls Biggest Trends

by Danielle Gray www.thestyleandbeautydoctor.com

So the whirlwind that is New York Fashion Week has ended, but all the great trends in fashion, hair, and beauty are here for us to marvel in. Browsing through every show can prove to be tiresome if you haven’t a ton of time, this is why we’ve taken the work out for you and summarized some of fall 2013’s biggest trends. Some of which you can try right now! Check it out…

Smoky eyes. Smoky eyes are always in style as seen at Donna Karan. But of course the look isn’t limited to black as a sooty grey was used here and gently smudged on the eyes.

Pops of color on the eyes. Shades of violet were spotted on the models at Jason Wu’s show. This hue is perfect because it works on all skin tones. Simply blend so there’s no harsh lines and add liner and mascara to finish.

So if you thought all the sexiness of lace was left only to your undergarments and clothing, think again! Monique Lhuillier showed some really sassy lace detailed booties at the fall 2013 show. Can’t find lace shoes? Hit the hosiery section for socks and tights in the texture

  1. Metallic makeup. Add a little bling to your makeup routine as seen on the lids at J. Mendel. Shades of gold, bronze, and copper look amazing on all shades of brown skin. If you’re a bit timid, you can line the bottom waterline with the glitzy hue for a tiny touch of the trend.

Nail art. Decorative nails have been around even before LL Cool J spoke of “Around the Way Girls,” but they’ve been having major steam in the mainstream as of the last few years. At shows like The Blonds, Libertine, and Houghton, nails took a very 3D turn with longer lengths and oval shapes. We can expect to see at-home versions of looks like these in stores soon (or you could head to your local craft store and DIY!)

Braided Updos. So typically Fashion Week doesn’t lend to a ton of textured hairstyles, but one to try for natural, transitioning, and relaxed hair is the braided updo as seen at Jen Kao.
