Lighten Up This Summer: 5 Weight-Loss Tips

So far, 2014 has been a great year for me. I have traveled a lot, and as a result, put on a few pounds that I could easily burn off once upon a time. With summer here and the need to shed the layers of clothing, it’s also time to drop some pounds. I have found that adjusting even the smallest habits can lead to big results in my weight-loss journey. Here are a few tips that I hope can help you all as well.
1. Always eat breakfast.
I admit, I have never been a big breakfast person, but starting the day of with a healthy meal, like eggs or even an apple can jumpstart your metabolism and give you the energy boost you need.
2. It’s all about the water.
I cannot state enough how important it is to drink at least eight glasses of water a day, especially if you are trying to lose weight.
3. Skip the “diet snacks.”
Many energy bars, fruit snacks, etc are filled with sugar. Make sure to read the ingredients before you buy.
4. Stay active.
Easier said than done, I know, but even walking an extra 10 minutes a day from work can make a huge difference.
5. Monitor your alcohol intake.
In the season where margaritas and mojitos flourish, this one is especially difficult for me, but the truth is, drinks like these are packed with sugar and calories. Switch to drinks like red wine on your weight loss journey.
