My new Fav
Man, oh Man.... I originally bought this product for my husband, then things took a turn. This became my product, lol. My husband gets so mad when I use "his" loc butter. He said Carol made this for dreads, go find another product. LOL. I recommend this product to all

Loc Butter Love
I bought this for my boyfriend. This is so much better than other products I was using, such as gels and pure beeswax. It leaves his hair shiny and it actually keeps his hair in place. I thought because of the soft texture of the butter it wouldn't. There is no buildup either. It's hard finding something that actually holds the hair in place with no mess. I'm glad I ran across this gem. I don't use ANYTHING else.

I use this on my boyfriend's lox. I love it because it doesn't leave a waxy buildup. His hair is shiny and his lox doesn't break anymore. I was surprised that this lox butter also strengthened his hair.

Great Product for Locs
I like the way it holds my hair. Other loc pomades makes my hair fizzy but Loc Butter by Carol's Daughter holds my hair a lot longer than other brands. I like the way it smells and does my husband. We love the way it makes my hair smell. We both win on that. I couldn't ask for anything better product.

Best Product Ever
OMG I have tried so many different products for my two strand twist and coils. Other products use to leave my hair either dry and hard or eventually would leave flakes. I'm so glad that I found CD Loc Butter. My hair is always so moisturized and shiny. I get so many compliments on how it looks. I will never use anything else to twist my hair. I wish the jar was a little bigger because I use this product once a week to twist my hair and it is really growing. The smell is awesome. Thanks so much for this product. Don't ever take it away.

? My twists
I have had natural hair the past 17 years & I recently just gotntired of not being able to do NOTHING for my hair unless I get it pressed, flat ironed or braided & that costs money that I do not always have. So I saw a picture on Facebook & got the idea to wear my hair in twists & just keep it washed with conditioner, do "co-washes" & use a leave in conditioner along with other hair oils for treating my natural hair. So I saw that this girl in the photo says she uses Carol's Daughter Loc Butter for her simple twists, well with me already being natural I dont have to worry about the transitioning process & my hair is already long (shoulder length) so this wont do nothing but help growth in my hair further because I already dont like combing my hair. When I saw reviews for keeping up natural hair this was perfect for me because I also have SICKLE CELL ANEMIA so sometimes when I go in the hospital I have breakage because I dont have no one to come braid my hair for mr and plat it up so it gets matted. Well using this product I like because my hair is shiny, soft and actually stays TWISTED or coiled, whatever you want to call it. I just sit up and watch tv & do my hair in the meantime & the twists just stays in my hair. I cannot wait to do my hair using the FLEX RODS with this product because the beeswax keeps it locked and do not unravel it. I am a fan of this product knowing that I can do something with my hair while I cant afford the salon press/flat ironing which is good vecause its keeping heat out of my hair also but now my hair wont be all over my head making me look like a dang lion, lol.

I LOVE THIS PRODUCT
I've been using the Loc Butter to twist my hair for about a year now. I started using it intensely after a year of being locked, and I love the hold the Loc Butter provides and the moisture and shine it gives. My locs stay twisted at the root until the new growth comes in (and I have to wash and re-twist, which I do every 4-5 weeks), which is an amazing example of the hold this product provides. Basically, whatever I twist stays that way until it's time to re-twist, if you don't count the new growth. I initially hated it when I was using it with products made by different manufacturers, because the smell was very strong and the flakes that popped up when it dried were REALLY bad. But I've noticed that both of these things have all but disappeared since I started using the Loc Butter with other Carol Daughter's products only (Tui oil and Rosemary Mint Shampoo/Conditioner). The smell is still strong, but it doesn't smell nearly as weird or obnoxious as it did before. There is a problem with the hair being greasy if you use too much, so you don't need to overdo it with this one. I've learned to love this product. I actually can't imagine doing my locs (or getting my locs done) without it! It treats my scalp good and makes my locs look amazing, and that's all I could ever ask for.

Great for Locs
I used this personally and on my clients as well. Its an excellent hair locking product, Has just the right amount of beeswax which, too much of, can cause build up and attract dirt to the hair. Loc butter really melts into the loc and is thick enough to give the locs that perfect cylindrical shape through palm rolling. The only complaint I got was about the scent. The men loved it, the women not so much. Its been a long time since I had my locs and I have since retired as a loctician but I just re-ordered some of this for my daughter. I know she will love it.

One of my favorite products to use.
After using this for my twist outs I can honestly say that I LOVE this product. It leaves my hair moisturized, feeling soft and looking very shiny and healthy. I'm currently experimenting with other products but this is on the top of my list. Can't wait to purchase more.

Foul Smell
First I want to give the pros: the formula is light, it's holds my locs nicely when I retwist, and the initial smell is refreshing. However, about a week after [washing and] retwisting my hair with loc butter, my hair starts to literally stink. Now I don't know if the fact that I work out at least 4 times a week and the sweat mixed with the loc butter produces this stench (because I don't want to just trash talk the product) but my hair literally smells like melted plastic and it's terrible. I don't even want people to get close to me. If you're interested it trying it out then by all means please do because it may just be me, but I just wanted to share for the gym rats out there. Peace be upon you.

My daughter turned me on to CD Loc Butter after I went natural about 3 years ago. Her hair always looked to so nice with such flair and definition. I decided to try this product for myself and I found this product to be a necessity to my hairstyling needs. It offers great shine, definitiion and softness to my hair, not to mention the great fragrance of my cd Loc butter. Thankyou CD for making such a wonderful product that I truly LOVE and cannot do without! :)

Soft Locs/Dry Scalp GONE!!!!!
This product provides excellent hold while leaving my locs soft to the touch. I had severe dandruff prior to using CD products. For soft flake free hair, use this combined with Lisa's Hair Elixr and the Rosemary Mint Shampoo/Conditioner.

formula change??
I've been using this product for a couple of years now. Picked up a new jar today and it's really new. The color is lighter, which I guess doesn't change the efficacy. The texture is also different , it's more grainy. :( It's not as creamy as the product I'm used to. I'm hoping it's just a "bad" batch. Sad face over here #3

Loc butter
I bought a lot of products from Carol's daughter for my daughter and they were all disappointing. The loc butter has a strong scent that literally stays on your hair for 2 to 3 days. I just wanted a protective style for my daughter, so I decided to do the 2 strand twist using the loc butter. It did not hold the twist, they kept unravelling. It was just horrible.

The Bomb!!!!!!!!!!
Wow! a friend @ work reccomended this product. I had very dry locks, very, very, dry scalp and was trying everything. I did find a good gel for twisting and hair was growing but no sheen and still very dray and after twisting the strains did not hold. After purching this product I could not believe the results. OMG..it held the strains no more dry scalp, locks shined and scalp is no longer itchy. I do not have to retwist as often and do not have to wash as often, it works ladies/geltelmen get this product it is the best.

Loc Butter on transitioning hair
I am 4 months into transitioning my hair from permed to natural hair. I have been wearing a protective style by flat twisting my hair every night and taking them out every morning. Well you can imagine that with permed hair and natural hair I would have frizze problems and curl definition problems as well as keeping my hair moisturized. After trying nothing but curling pudding product, motions curl define, and african pride curling pudding I have finally found a product that controls my frizz all day, gives me great curl definition all day, and leaves my hair feeling so soft and looking moisturized. Thank you Carol's Daughter for LOC BUTTER. I use this product to flat twist my hair at night and then take my twist down in the morning by rubbing some of Carol's Daughter Marguerites Magic on my hair. I have been doing this routine for two weeks now and now my hair sheds less and is soft, moisturized and frizz free. I still can't believe I found the right product after trying so many. I currently use two products on my hair LOC BUTTER and Marguerites Magic. By using these products together I get the moisture my hair needs and the hold and frizz free my twist out look needs. I use the loc butter for the hold and frizz free and the Marguerites magic for the moisture my hair needs and to control breakage. This combination definitely keeps my hair healthy and with plenty of curls that last all day without frizz.

Loc Butter
I've tried several products for my twist and twist out. This is by far the best. It maintains my twist for at least 2 weeks and it defines my twist out making it look very curly. I purchased this product about one year ago and decided to give it a try. I loved the results.

Great product
After trying several loc/gel products for my daughter's natural twists..Finally found something that actually holds twists, gives great shine and doesnt leave her hair looking and feeling dry and frizzy. Her twist outs also look good and natural and lasts for 7 to 8 days. The smell isnt as bad as some of the other reviews make it sound its quite pleasant and actually fades over time. Great product CD!

Super Greasy, but great hold with lots of moisture!
Great hold on my twists for my twist outs... which is great for TWAs so they don't unravel.....I do my twist outs on dry hair. I spritz each section with a water/glycerin/oil mix, apply the loc butter, then twist. However, use sparingly! SUPER GREASY!!!!!! SUPER! But, there is an upside to all the greasiness.... my hair is also SUPER moisturized. Hope this helps. :)

Best product I've ever used for twists, locs, braids!
Both my daughter (5) and I have natural hair. Hers thick and wavy, mine tight. I use this on both of our hair for braids or double stranded twists. I have tried LOTS of products (gels, butters, pomades etc.) from other natual hair care companies - including pure Shea butter - but nothing compares to the hold and the sheen that you get from using this. I'm not a huge Carol Daughter's fan, but this product was worth mentioning!

Would not recommend
I am a fan of CD. Specifically, love LOVE LOVE the hair elixer for my 10 year old locs and the love butter for my skin which craves moisture. But, the LOC butter is not a product I would recommend. The product smells great, but the way it left my locs feeling overly greasy and grainy feeling. I usually wash and retwist my locs between visiting my loctician approximately every 3 mos. When I visited my loctician after having used this product, she also commented on the weird feeling of it and immediately knew what I had used. I hate to give a poor rating as I think CD has incredible products, but this is not a good product for those with locs. Also, I noticed that a lot of folks were using gel based products before they tried this product, which may explain why they like this product so much. There are plenty of better options out there. I would encourage you to explore them.

Love
I can honestly say that I truly love this product! Although don't have locs an I use this product primarily for twists and twistouts, I can say with certainty that this product does as it claims. It leaves my twists shiny, moisturized, and bouncy. You have to be careful not to use too much or else you'll be left with a greasy residue. I switched to this product after I noticed water-based moisturizers/stylers left flakes in my hair after it dried no matter what I did and this product doesn't do any of that. I use it on wet hair (4a/4b). I did have to knock off one star for the medicinal/herbal smell but it doesn't last too long and you get used to it. The product is quite pricy, but it will last a long time and it works for me, so hey?!

Forever Locs
I started growing natural in Dec 2010 so it's been 18 months so far. I started searching for products 2 months ago and was never satisfied with any of them. I tried "Kinky Curl", "Miss Jessies", none of them worked. My hair is semi-fine and it doesn't take with every product. A friend told me about Carol's Daughter so I checked out the website and started reading all the reviews, so I decided to give this product a shot. Amazing is the word I will use for Loc Butter. I really love the feel it gives my hair and the smell unbelievable. I also purchased the Hair Milk (shampoo & conditioner) and I felt like drinking it from the bottle. My husband loves the smell too.. I am one satisfied customer thanks to CD I will never go back to putting chemicals in my Hair again.

Try to lock it up
I find this product very useful. I work out everyday except for Sundays. I am an intense aerobics/ weight instructor. I love my grade of hair. It is thick and curly when water hits it, it will instantly curl up. Due to thesweat of me working out everyday, it was so hard to maintain because it would nott up, nap up, matt, become brittle and break off. I was desperate and I had made the decision to cut it off. I have been natural for over 12 years, but i wasnt going to stop working out because my hair wouldnt cooporate. I then gave my hair one last chance and decided to twist it. My sister told me about carols daughter lock butter and leave in conditioner. It works great and I get compliments on the way my hair smells. My hair is so soft and manageable. I cant wait to explore other products of Carols Daughter.

Wonderful
This was my first product from Carols Daughter - like the scent - my hair is extra fine - I shampoo - dry with towel until damp - I rub BUTTER into my hands - then put on hair - which you need very little - it secures the curl - makes hair shiny - I just love it - since then I have tried her other products - satisfied customer. Why all of the positive reviews?
Although this product is titled loc butter I assumed based on the description on the back of the jar that I could use it on my twists or just to moisturize my hair. My experience with this product was not what i had expected. A big thing for me is how the product smells and loc butter smells terrible. Don't believe the reviewer who described it as a light citrus scent. The scent of loc butter is anything but light. the stench will stay on your hair for at least 2 or 3 days but the moisture that it supposedly provides will not be there. Personally i cannot begin to describe the smell of loc butter it smells sort of like medicine hopefully you will be able to smell it before your make a mistake and purchase it. I have mostly 4a hair and like many other moisturizers it did not make me want to purchase it again. So far the only product that does moisturize my hair noticeably is shea butter and coconut oil. Both of which do not smell amiable in particular the shea butter. however overall if it moisturizes my hair and my hair continues to grow I will use the product. the loc butter did none of the the above so i will not waste my money and purchase it again. hopefully someone can avoid the same mistake i did

I'll never look back
I've tried the gels...they leave a residue and only hold for a few days. As a woman with mature locs, I want to twist and go. I shouldn't have to wash my hair every few days because of flakes. This loc butter is a God send. The shine and hold, not to mention the smell, make this a product like none other. I'll never go back!

I'm on my second jar of this stuff!
I love it so much. It lasted a whole year and I repurchased as soon as I ran out. It keeps my curls from getting frizzy and keeps them from getting dry if I decide not to co wash when I should. It holds shape when I manipulate my hair BUT is not hardening in any way. Leaves my hair soft while it gives my hair a healthy shine. I can tell the difference in my hair when I don't use it. Smells like citrus but it isn't too strong once in my hair. This is one product I can't live without.

My locs are beautiful
My loctician started my locs with a holding gel. Previously, a stylist had tried other 'loc' products to twist my hair. They worked, but I didn't like any of them. The flaking, itching, build-up, and stiff hair were intolerable. I had heard of CD loc butter, so I decided to give it a try. I LOVE it! The loc butter leaves my locs with a beautiful shine, no stiffness, no "blobs" of gel, good hold. The smell is heavy at first, but quickly resolves - my husband has to get very close to smell it. My hair is healthy-no breakage. My locs are clean, no build-up. I really love this product.

Loc Butter with No Locs
Yes, I've fallen in LOVE with the Loc Butter without having locs. I wanted to do a blow out without damaging my hair too much.I like using the Loc Butter on my wet 4a natural hair. I'll use Carol's Daughter Healthy Hair Butter on my scalp then apply the Loc Butter to my actual hair. Afterwards, my hair feels strong and coated. My blow outs even last longer. LOVE IT!

I first purchased Carol's Daugther from HSN last year 2010. I order alot of things as Christmas gifts for my family. I also ordered loc butter for my locs... Wow! I received soooo many people asking what do I use in my hair and of course I said "Carol's Daugther"! Well, I'm back again, during the Christmas season and I'm in need of my loc butter. Oh yeah, last year I ordered 2. Lisa, I want to wish you the best with everything and keep on making that loc butter for my locs... They are down my back.... Loving Them!! Again, Thanks

Great product!
I use this product to maintain/retwist my locs; and it holds well, provides a nice shine to the locs/new growth, and keeps my locs soft, moisturized, and conditioned. I also liked that the citrusy scent is lightly scented, and not strong.

It works great!
I noticed this product has a low score so I wanted to tell everyone how great it is. I use it when I braid or twist my hair. It keeps the braids or twist from frizzing and soft for days. I don't use it on a twist out because it's heavy but little goes a long way if your doing a protective style.
